Monkeys!

Today we’ve taking a wee bit easy and so let me tell you about the little funny and smart monkeys who live around the hotel:

Green Monkey

The Green monkey has with golden-green fur and pale hands and feet. The tip of the tail is golden yellow as are the backs of the thighs and cheek whiskers. Fun fact: males have a pale blue scrotum and a red penis. These guys are highly social and usually seen in groups of 7 up to 80 individuals on the ground. They are not afraid to live around humans and very smart to get any food from their plates … especially during tea time, when you have your tea cup in one hand and the cake in the other one … no chance for defense!

He got it! 🍰

The second kind of ape is the Colobus monkey. These rarely descend to the ground in groups of 8 up to 15 individuals. As suggested by their name, adult colobi have black fur with white features. White fur surrounds their facial region and a „U“ shape of long white fur runs along the sides of their body. Newborn colobi are completely white with a pink face. At our hotel the colobi are often seen in late afternoon sitting on bushes and eat leafs.

And last but not least there are cats! At hotels in Kenia they are very important for critter control. So they are fed twice a day. And certainly they get snacks from the guest …

Snooze …
